In just over a month the little ones will be back to school, and we’ll be contemplating fall décor that compliments the colours of the seasonal foliage. Not to worry though, there are still lots of summer events left to enjoy.
Blues served up with berries – and a lot of fun. Head over to historic downtown Bowmanville to enjoy great food, shopping and live blues bands during the first annual BluesBERRY Festival. There's lots of family-friendly fun including jumping castles, rock climbing wall, and a visit from Clarington Fire Services. That’s not all, there are also a ton of other sub-events, such as: a celebrity pie eating contest and a community bike parade.
Lastly, we’re ending the month here in Bowmanville with the Bacon, Beer & Cider Festival. There are food trucks, live music, food demos and – of course – great live music. Delicious!
Parapan Am Games
Panamania isn’t over yet! With Pan Am concluded, we’re now in the midst of the fifth edition of Parapan Am, featuring 1,608 athletes from 28 countries competing in 15 sports. You can get close to the action in nearby Oshawa, as the city is hosting both Bocci and Judo. Tickets are available now from Ticketmaster for both events.
You can catch some great music at the Rotary Park in downtown Bowmanville every Thursday this month. The line-up for August includes: Toronto All Star Big Band, Robbie Lane and the Disciples, Beagle Beach and Emily Creek. As well, Oshawa is hosting a bevy of great (free) outdoor music this month. Their “Concerts in the Park” series at the Memorial Park Bandshell has an august line-up including: The Oshawa Civic Band, Jim Parker, GT Harris & The Gunslingers and Ron Moore, who will be performing songs in the key of “Elvis".
There’s a lot to do and see before the month is over – so get out there and enjoy yourself!
